I'm not Catholic, but this is my first year doing Lent. I know several non-Catholics who voluntarily did the same.

Then again, Catholics do seem to always be ten to twenty years behind the times when it comes to being hip and with it, meaning that even when embracing falsehood they somehow manage to look dull and dated.

This is a disease that affects all of Christianity. You might shorten the time span by just a bit to accurately describe the Evangelical version.
