likely a plant. (It's one thing to astroturf; it's quite another to astroturf your kid. Kinda sad).
In the Townhall meeting, the President...
1. was dishonest about his views on single-payer.
2. botched his analogy with the post-office and private couriers. (Watch this carefully; he is really struggling to grab on to some conceptual life-raft on which to float).
3. inaccurately claimed that AARP supports his plan.
As I watched I really felt sorry for him. It reminded me of one of those cringe-inducing thesis defenses where you know, and everyone one in the room knows, that the student undergoing the examination is really struggling to defend what he does not deeply know. And you sit watching in embarrassing agony wishing he would find some way to extricate himself from the abyss in which he plummets. Very painful.

This whole thing is getting very bizarre.
Also,
Please tell me how I can avoid being that student!
And don't just tell me, "Study hard!"

Study harder

Yes, study harder. And then have the guts to admit "I don't know" when you don't. It's that attempt to brazen it through which makes the given example (and similar situations) so cringe-inducing.

If you are prone to be nervous, have your anxiety attack *before* you walk in . . . This was not the dissertation defense, because I knew that topic really, really well, but on the "exam over everything there is to know about all literature throughout the entire world and all criticism of it" -- I froze so completely on the first question that I couldn't remember a single one of the Canterbury Tales . . . Thankfully, I recovered by the second half and only one committee member thought I should have to take it over . . . :)

Mr. Beckwith
I agree.
Pres. Obama is backed against the ropes and is flailing. Just hoping to hang on until the bell rings.
Mr. Obama's lack of experience as a leader, and executive, and as a national politician is clearly evident as this unfolds.
