From the Book of Common Prayer:
ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, in whose hands are the living and the dead; We give thee thanks for all those thy servants who have laid down their lives in the service of our country. Grant to them thy mercy and the light of thy presence, that the good work which thou hast begun in them may be perfected; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord. Amen.

Amen. i posted the same prayer last night, with the ones for the army and Navy (my oldest son is a Navy Chief). I am enjoying being with my WWII veteran dad this year, maybe the last one he'll be able to talk to us about the past . . . God bless all our military, past and present.

Thanks. Too many in my conservative circles forget or just refuse to thank our troops.

Excellent, Paul. Thank you. And thanks to the "heroes proved...who more than self their country loved."

Paul, That is a beautiful prayer, brief and expressive.

"...Man that is born of a woman hath but a short time to live, and is full of misery. He cometh up, and is cut down, like a flower; he fleeth as it were a shadow, and ne'er continueth in one stay. In the midst of life we are in death..."
Did anybody in the whole history of the world write as beautifully as Archbishop Cranmer?

The author of the Book of Job? They do say the Elizabethan Age was golden. It rings in the Ecclesiastes, too.

And can you believe that the King James version was written by a committee? All I can say is, committees then must not have been the same as committees now.
